“In the mid-1970s, Gordon Wildermuth was a young partner at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, working in Saudi Arabia to build the Hajj Terminal at the King Abdul Aziz International Airport.” Pages 122-123

In the June 2010 issue of Architectural Record, the Hajj Terminal was awarded the 25-Year Award as part of the annual AIA Honor Awards, which highlight best practices and recognize exemplary projects by the AIA community. “The Twenty-five Year Award showcases buildings that set a precedent…(and) is conferred on a building that has stood the test of time for 25-35 years and continues to set standards of excellence for its architectural design and significance.”
