urbanphenomena: design+research

Visualogue|31. The Holy City Reconfigured|Atef Alshehri

For this edition of the urbanphenomena visualogue, we are starting 2013 with a very crucial and sensitive topic; the massive annihilation of the urban fabric of Al-Madinah. Apart from the impact on the city context from a planning perspective, the repercussions on the socio-spiritual role has been immense.

Our speaker for this visualogue is Atef Alshehri. A dear friend since we were colleagues at KFUPM School of Architecture, he is currently a candidate for a PhD degree at Oxford University on the urban morphology of Al-Madinah in recent history.
